Council

Council is a quaint town with brick storefronts and architecture reminiscent of the old west. Located 130 miles northwest of Boise and 35 miles southwest of McCall, it is nestled in a picturesque valley lined by timbered mountains. Council, the seat of Adams County, has roughly 700 people within its city limits, while the county holds a population of about 3700.

The climate here is seasonal. Moderate winters produce snowfalls perfect for skiing and snowmobiling, and when the winter snow melts the wildflowers are a beautiful sight to behold. Summers are long enough and warm enough for an abundant vegetable garden. And fall colors are fabulous!

Community events include the Annual Quilt Show, with quilt block contests showcasing entries from many different states; the Fourth of July celebration and annual porcupine race (where else but here?); and the Adams County Fair & Rodeo.
